Kudumbashree, an organization for women empowerment under the Government of Kerala has decided to provide laptops for students to enable them to participate in the online classes. With the state Education Department planning to conduct classes starting from June 15, the laptops will be provided to needy students in the form of loans via Kerala State Financial Enterprises or KSFE.

In the COVID-19 scenario, poor people are finding it difficult to purchase smartphone, TV, or laptop to meet the e-learning requirements. Hence, Kudumbashree has established a partnership with KSFE to provide laptops to the students in the form of easy installments.

As part of the scheme, laptops worth INR 15000 will be provided in the form of KSFE micro chitty. The beneficiary should join the chitty and remit INR 500 in 30 equal installments. If the beneficiary pays the installments without fail for every 10 months, then KSFE will provide them INR 500 as bonus. The program is configured to provide a subsidy of INR 1500 after 30 months. Moreover, you will receive balance amount at the end of 30 months.

Even though the program is oriented for the members of Kudumbashree, non-members can also join the scheme. According to KSFT, each Kudumbashree unit who finds a real beneficiary from the non-member community will receive a 2 percent commission. The official announcement will follow soon. The registration process will be online to ensure transparency.

That’s why the district has a huge number of candidates.

The candidates should reach the venue one hour before the scheduled start of the exam. The examination is being held on a working day and hence candidates should arrive early to avoid traffic snarls. They should carry food and water as well since it’s a one-day-long examination. There is a two-hour gap between Paper 1 and 2 and hence candidates have ample time for relaxation. The exams will be tough but students who have appeared for IIT entrance will not have any difficulty cracking the exam.

UC Davis

UC Davis is one of the popular University in California, which houses students from across the world. The UC Davis students are gearing up to conduct massive protest across the campus against the conduct of offline classes. The Omicron scare is still alive and hence the demand for online classes grows. The main reason is that certain classes house 1000+ students packed in a single hall and this will most likely cause spread of COVID-19. However, the leadership under Gary is unable to make any exemptions since exams are due in March end.

The first-year classes were held offline for 3 months. With the outbreak of Omicron, the total number of positive cases increased, and hence the classes of January month were held online. The management under the leadership of Chancellor Gary decided to start offline classes by taking all precautions.

UC Davis has mandated that students should wear either N95 or K95 masks only. The typical cloth masks will not be encouraged anymore. Moreover, students will have to follow standard COVID-19 protocols both inside and outside the campus. As always, students will be allowed to leave the campus by Friday afternoon and return by Sunday evening.

The management is adamant that classes should be conducted offline for maximum productivity. There is no guarantee as to when COVID will vanish from the earth and classes can’t be adjourned indefinitely. The campus is isolating affected students with RTPCR test once in 15 days. There are reports that few classes will be held despite the strike.
