Mollywood mourns the death of Kollam Sudhi

Kollam Sudhi, who is well-known for his terrific performances is no more. The emerging 39-year-old actor reportedly died on the spot after a direct collision with a truck near Kaipamangalam at 4.30 AM on June 5. Sudhi’s death came as a rude shock because Malayalam film industry is already under distress after the death of Innocent and Mammukoya.
He was traveling with well-known comedians Binu Adimali, Ullas Aroor, and Mahesh. They were returning after a stage performance in Wayanad. Sudhi is famous for his performances in Flowers TV Star Magic show along with Binu Adimali, Noby, and others. Sudhi is active on social media platforms and also owns a YouTube channel.
Even though Sudhi was rushed to the nearest hospital, the doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. Kollam Sudhi started his career in 2015 and attracted Malayalam film lovers with his stage presence. He made an attempt to fill the void after the demise of Kalabhavan Mani. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has condoled the untimely death of Sudhi.
Sudhi and his friends were traveling in a car owned by Flowers TV. According to eye witness, Sudhi’s car was on overspeed and directly hit the truck with a huge sound. The rescue operations started immediately but with great difficulty. Sudhi’s friends were initially admitted to a local hospital but were taken to a private hospital in Kochi. There are reports that the car driver could have slept resulting in the tragedy.
As a coincidence, Kollam Sudhi died on the same day when the Kerala Government launched the AI cameras on the roads that were installed to avert accidents. Those traveling in cars without seat belts and speaking over mobile phones will be punished heavily automatically.

Alencier’s Remarks on Kerala State Film Award Statuette Spark Gender Row

At the 53rd Kerala State Film Awards ceremony, actor Alencier Le Lopez received the Special Jury Award for his performance in the film Appan. In his acceptance speech made before Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, he made a number of controversial remarks about the award statuette, which is a stylized figure of a woman.
Alencier said that he was insulted by the statuette and that he expected an award statuette with a male figure. He also said that the female figure was “luring” him and that he was planning to head home after taking the award because the statuette was too heavy.
Alencier also criticized the prize money for the Special Jury Award, which is Rs. 25,000. He said that it was an insult to give him such a small amount of money, and that he deserved more. He also said that he was requesting Gautam Ghosh, the head of the jury, to look into the matter.
Alencier’s remarks have been met with widespread criticism. Many people have accused him of sexism and misogyny. Some have also said that his remarks were disrespectful to the women who have won the award in the past.
Speaking to media on Friday, Alencier refused to apologize for his remarks and said he had said nothing wrong. He also slammed Indira Gandhi for imposing Emergency. Alencier’s remarks are in line with a long history of sexism and misogyny in the Malayalam film industry. The Kerala State Film Awards have been criticized in the past for their lack of gender parity. Alencier’s remarks are a reminder of the need for greater awareness of gender issues in the Malayalam film industry.
